JazzCtrl typelib with Excel 2013 VBA - how to?

Postby mhmh » Tue Nov 04, 2014 12:54 pm

Hi everyone,

in the "meantime" I know how to address the JazzCtrl Lib, but
when I tried and tried again to instantiate the class like this way

Dim J As JazzCtrl
Set J = New JazzCtrl
Dim Value As Boolean
Value = J.isJazz

I get a run time error 429, ie. " ActiveX component can't create object
or return reference to this object (Error 429)"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... =office.15).aspx

I have no more ideas what to do... Can everyone help please?

Thanks a lot!
MH

I had to buy a new MS Office... :)

Here are the instructions for Excel 2013

To enable the Developer tab:
Right Click on the Ribbon -> Customize the Ribbon...
Check the Developer checkbox

To add Jazz-Plugin to the control list:
Developer -> Add-Ins -> Automation...
Select Jazz-Plugin and press Ok

To insert a Jazz-Plugin object into the document:
Developer -> Insert -> ActiveX Controls -> More Controls
Select Jazz-Plugin and press Ok

Sample code:
Code: Select all
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
    Dim a(0 To 2) As Integer
    a(0) = 144
    a(1) = 60
    a(2) = 120
    MsgBox JazzCtrl1.MidiOutOpen(0)
    JazzCtrl1.MidiOutLong (a)
End Sub

New Excel VBA has some problem sending VARIANT parameters, so you have to declare the array type.
It also has problems calling functions with variable number of arguments, so I use MidiOutLong() instead of MidiOut().

Make sure you have the latest version installed, I've just updated it today!
